Who We Are

The Jerusalem Dental Center for Children (JDCC) is the founder of the Luba Slome Dental Center in Jerusalem, a nonprofit clinic that provides comprehensive dental and preventive care at subsidized rates to underserved families in Jerusalem, and throughout Israel.

Millions of children suffer from tooth decay worldwide, with a disproportionate share- close to 80%-of those children coming from poverty-stricken homes. The Center was founded on the premise that every child has the right to oral health, regardless of socioeconomic status or ability to pay. Since 1985, it has been dedicated to ensuring that children from less privileged backgrounds have access to the world-class dental care they deserve.

What began as a spark of inspiration in recognition of a staggering need, has mushroomed into a well-established clinic.  Today, the Center is one of Israel’s top providers of nonprofit dental care. To date, it has provided more than 400,000 patient visits, having treated close to 5-10% of the entire population of Jerusalem. In many cases, multiple generations of the same families have been treated at the Clinic.

The Luba Slome Dental Center boasts an elite, 40 plus-member team of highly-trained professionals, including 15-20 general and specialist dentists. They provide more than 20,000 annual patient visits at discounts of up to 80% off standard, private-practice fees. In cases where families can’t afford the minimal charges, it sets up special payment programs, and when necessary, has waived fees altogether.

Of course, the Center would not exist without the caring and generosity of its steadfast donors from around the world. The clinic depends on donations to fulfill its mission of providing affordable top-quality dental care and oral hygiene education to many of Jerusalem’s neediest families.
